Rick D. Patt, a native of Natchez, Mississippi, graduated from Millsaps College in 1987, and went on to receive his law degree from the University of Mississippi in 1990. From 1990 through 1996, Mr. Patt served as an attorney and Deputy Director for the Mississippi Judicial College, wherein he worked with all levels of the state court system. From 1996 through 2001, Mr. Patt was employed in the state agency overseeing the Mississippi trial court system, the Mississippi Administrative Office of Courts, serving as Deputy Director in 1996-1997 and Director 1997-2001. He authored “Guide to Mississippi Limitations of Actions” and was a major editor of the Mississippi Model Jury Instructions. Since 2001, Mr. Patt has worked as a Firm Manager and practicing attorney, first for the firm of Langston, Sweet & Freese, P.A.,
then for Langston & Langston, PLLC.

Mr. Patt is a member of the Mississippi State Bar, where he serves on the Technology Committee. He also is a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association (for which he chairs the Legislative Committee), the Magnolia Bar Association and the Hinds County Bar Association. He has given literally hundreds of C.L.E. and C.J.E. speeches throughout his career on many different areas of law.
